The story behind MLGA

Mass Latin Golf was born from a simple yet powerful realization: the game we loved wasn’t always as welcoming as it should be. As Alex Rojas visited various golf courses and country clubs, it became clear that he and others didn’t always fit in. There was an unspoken divide that made inclusion feel like something that had to be earned. Yet, with passion, persistence, and a deep dedication to the game, Alex began breaking down those barriers.

As Latinos, we’re often labeled before given the chance to prove ourselves. “You must be great at baseball—you're Dominican,” or “You must love soccer—you're from South America.”

Meet the team

These assumptions left no room for the truth: Latinos have the talent to excel in any sport, including golf—we just needed the opportunity.

Nearly 15 years after his first swing, Alex recognized that while progress has been made, there’s still much more to be done.

This journey led to the creation of Mass Latin Golf—a community where golfers of all levels can find their place, connect with others, and grow both personally and on the course.

For Alex, it’s not just about the game—it’s about opportunities, building lasting relationships, and finding peace in a shared love for the sport.
